Jerseyville, Ontario – Over the thirteen years that I have been a Member of Parliament, never have I heard from so many people who are concerned about making ends meet than I’ve heard over the past few months. Whether I’m in Waterdown, Binbrook, Mount Hope, Elfrida, Upper Stoney Creek, or anywhere else, I’m hearing about how people are working harder shifts and longer hours, they’re commuting further, but it’s getting more and more difficult to get by.

Taxes are way up from where they were four years ago, half of all Canadians find themselves within $200 of running out of money at the end of the month, the deficit is bloated without a return to balance in sight, and the Prime Minister is too busy dealing with ethics investigations to manage it. Never before had a Prime Minister been found guilty of breaking ethics laws, but Justin Trudeau has done so twice.

All of this has resulted in one thing—people are so concerned with getting by that they’ve stopped dreaming, they’re losing hope. When government does the right things, it can make a positive difference in people’s lives. We need an affordable country to work and live in — one where you can enjoy in the early years of your career, grow with your family, and enjoy a dignified retirement.

Canadians deserve a government that is honest, transparent, and ethical. They deserve a government that is focused on putting them first and building a future where families can hope and dream. A vote for David Sweet and Canada’s Conservatives is a vote for a positive vision for a future of hope. That’s why I’m running in this election.
